Jusco Member's SALES

Last Thursday 24 July 2008 was Jusco Member's Day Sales at Midvalley. Me and my bf went there after work. Luckily I took KTM to reach there. It was so congested with people. Like the Chinese saying "People Mountain, People Sea".

People were lined in a long Q for collecting their vouchers. For every RM100 spent, members were entitled for a RM10 voucher. So you could just imagine how much Jusco Midvalley earnt in that day solely. When I saw the lines,I was a bit hesitated to go inside, because I dislike crowd and congestion. But when I saw the banners and signboard marked with "50%" and "70%", I became so tempted which I could not resisted. I went in. Spent money. Lucky for me, I didn't even swipe my credit card...yet. But I spent almost all of my cash in purse and that wasn't too much to spend off. Haha.Time-in=6PM, time-out=11.30PM.

Rebate in three minutes

KUALA LUMPUR: The process of getting fuel subsidy rebates will be simple and will only take three minutes, Pos Malaysia Bhd said. At a press conference yesterday, Pos Malaysia executive director Datuk Abu Huraira Abu Yazid said car owners only needed to do the following to get the cash rebate:

> Go in person to any of the country's 683 post offices,

> Bring your identity card,

> Provide your car registration number, and

> Fill a money order form.

Rebates can be claimed from tomorrow until March 31 next year for those who bought new or renewed their road tax between April 1 and May 31 this year. For those after June 1, claims can be made from July 1.

Chicken price soars to RM7 a kilo

KUALA LUMPUR: Chicken sellers have increased their prices despite a 60 sen per kilo drop in ex-farm prices, says Federation of Livestock Farmers Association of Malaysia (FLFAM). The association's broiler unit chairman Kwei Yew Tong said, however, the increase was justifiable considering the recent hike in fuel prices. Kwei said that as of yesterday ex-farm prices stood at RM4 per kilo but added he had read reports that the market price had risen to RM7 per kilo in several places.

“The ex-farm price has gone down because it is dependent on supply and demand, and currently, the demand has slumped.

“Chicken sellers have had to increase their prices to offset costs in transportation and other expenses. This is in addition to the drop in sales too,” he said.

Asked whether there were complaints of losses, Kwei confirmed that many were forced to close shop because they could not cope with basic costs. A check with the FLFAM website www. flfam.org.my showed that prices of chicken eggs had increased by two sen per egg for all grades.
Grade AA eggs stand at 28.5sen while Grade A, B, C, and D stand at 28sen, 27.5sen, 27sen and 26.5sen respectively. Selangor and Federal Territory Poultry Wholesalers Association Datuk Dr Lee Chong Meng confirmed that the sellers have raised their prices.

“With the lifting of the ceiling price of RM6 per kilo for chicken recently, the price increase should come as no surprise because they had been trading at a loss before that.

“We must take into consideration the cost of transportation and operating costs.
“Right now the highest price is at RM7 per kilo and this price fluctuation is a result of market forces. Give it one or two months to settle down,” assured Dr Lee.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meat Importers Association secretary Dr Santhirakesu Rengasamy said they were not planning to increase the price of meat.

“The rise in oil price is not the main reason for any increase in the beef price. The high demand for beef by other countries has resulted in the price increase,” he added.

Dr Santhirakesu said the price of beef would remain at RM12 per kilo.

Petrol Rebate

Hooray, today's The Sun on its main page, stated:

"...vehicle owners who had renewed their roadtax in April and May are eligible for the cash handout of RM625 (for cars of 2,000cc engine capacity and below) or RM150 (for motorcycles of 250cc capacity and below) can now make claims from Saturday, instead of July 1 as earlier announced".

I've just jot it down in my organizer this morning, the first thing to do on Saturday morning will be....rushing to the post office with my roadtax and JPJ card for the rebate!

With that money on hand, then I've to go to attend a friend's wedding in Johore. Can ask her to 'discount' or rebate us for the petrol and toll fares? :P

Update: Aiya, please don't call or SMS me for this information. I also dunno, just quoted it from the newspaper. Dunno which Saturday we can go for the claim and I also wonder if the post office is open on Saturday! Haha. But just bring anything (roadtax or/and JPJ card if you have them) with you when you go to the post office, to avoid frustration if they reject your claim :)

Petrol Price Hikes!!!

I was on the way home and my car stopped in front of the traffic lights when I received a SMS from my colleague which reads "Petrol RM2.70 per litre starts 12AM 5th June'. I was just about 5 mins drive away from my house. There are 2 petrol stations after the traffic lights, one situated just after the traffic lights and another is about 50 meters away. But I was caught in the jam. I thought it was Friday Pasar Malam, because so many cars were on the road, just like usual Friday evening. But then only I realized that SMS is true. I stared at the traffic lights, it changed from red-green-orange-red for few times and my car wasn't moving at all. Finally, I decided to right turned instead of going straight. I wanted to go to the petrol station but the Q was so long and it was blocking the main road. So I drove home staright away. I thought I wanted to fuel up after work yesterday because the tank was just 1/4 filled and I planned to go back to hometown this weekend. I should have had pumped in petrol on Tuesday. Too regret about it.

I reached home, had my dinner and watched chinese drama. At 8PM, I was telling myself, I have to go to pump petrol. So I went. The 2 stations which are just 3 blocks away from my house were jammed with cars. So I drove to another petrol station which is a bit far from my house. I managed to line up. One hour -- my car had just moved 50 meters and there were about 20 cars in front of mine. I ended up, drove back to my house and continued watching my dramas. Rethink of it. It was time and energy wasting. Also wasted my petrol in lining up for my turn.

So guess today onwards, prices of everything would increase as the petrol prices increased past midnight. This is so called chain reaction.

What is Happening Around the Globe?

First of all, we heard news about cyclone hit Myanmar. Then comes about the rice supply shortage and prices increase everywhere on foods, later on cube ice. The price inflation affects all the South East Asia countries including Malaysia. After that we heard about the sudden news from China. The massive earthquake in China took off lives of more than 10,000 people in few provinces of China. Until now, the 26 Malaysian tourists to Sichuan are still missing. Yesterday, I read some articles on the chinese press regarding the attacks in India whereby many were bombed to death.

Coincidence?

I met Mr David yesterday at the Pavillion, KL. He called me. I was rushing to the J Co to meet my friends with my bf, suddenly I heard someone called my name. And then I saw him. He is the one I always bumped into in Midvalley every Wednesday. He said he has gathering with his friends there every Wednesday and I normally go for movie on Wednesday. I was so surprised to see him at Pavillion..and he was alone. I asked him, why he was there ALONE, where is his gf?(whom I also know). He just said that he was shopping and walked around alone...so strange. It was public holiday and he wasn't with his gf. He told me that he is now based in Seremban for work for few months. We could not believe that we could even seen him in Pavillion. Hahaha

Scientists: Menstrual Blood Can Repair Hearts

TOKYO: The monthly discomfort many women see as a curse could pay off someday as Japanese researchers say menstrual blood can be used to repair heart damage. Scientists obtained menstrual blood from nine women and cultivated it for about a month, focusing on a kind of cell that can act like stem cells. Some 20% of the cells began beating spontaneously about three days after being put together in vitro with cells from the hearts of rats. The cells from menstrual blood eventually formed sheet-like heart-muscle tissue.
